    Abstract

ARK members are committed to implementing the new krill management strategy as exemplified by supporting the 9th and 13th krill surveys of Subareas 48.1 and 48.2, respectively, including the Gerlache Strait, an area identified as data-poor. Furthermore, this year marks the 5th anniversary of the successful implementation of Voluntary Restricted Zones in subarea 48.1, which remains the single spatial initiative for the fishery.

ARK vessels were approached during March by the Sea Shepherd vessel "Allankay", which caused some disruption in normal fishing operations. Apart from their presence on the fishing ground, their campaign was limited to communication activity in challenge of the CCAMLR system.
