Monitoring, Control and Surveillance Procedures Carried Out by the State of Chile During the 2022/23 Season

The State of Chile, as a CCAMLR Member, is committed to combating IUU (Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated) fishing and contributes, through its Navy, to the control of the  foreign fishing fleet operating in the Convention area. 

The purpose of the above is to contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives proposed by CCAMLR, verifying effective compliance with conservation measures by fishing vessels and monitoring the area to verify that the fleet present is on the list of vessels authorized to operate.

As every season, Chilean Navy officers conducted a survey in area 48.1, between May 03 and 08, 2023 on board of vessel OPV-83 "MARINERO FUENTEALBA".
