CCAMLR MPAs: Where do we go from here?

In this paper ASOC examines the state of affairs of marine protected area (MPA) discussions after CCAMLR-SM-III (Santiago, Chile, June 2023). As well as repeating earlier recommendations indicating that the MPA network should be completed as a matter of priority, it recommends the adoption of a roadmap to achieve that objective. This examination should be set in the context of resetting the relation between conservation and fisheries in CCAMLR, which is the subject of a companion paper submitted by ASOC to CCAMLR 42.
