Great Expectations: Moving towards consensus on CCAMLR MPAs in 2023

All three of the MPA proposals currently on the table at CCAMLR have gone through years of iterations, and Member States’ feedback, concerns and requests have been taken into account. During this time, additional Member States have joined these proposals as co-proponents. In this paper, ASOC provides an overview of how MPA proposals have changed over time and recommends that CCAMLR finalize their designations immediately.
